The 2026 ACCA Trainee Accountant Programme at BDO South Africa offers a 3‑year training contract within the Audit division, based in Johannesburg (Illovo). As part of the global BDO organisation, one of the fastest‑growing professional services networks, trainees will gain hands‑on experience, structured mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of clients — from JSE‑listed companies to entrepreneurial start‑ups. This programme is designed to equip graduates with the competencies required to register as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) or with SAICA, while building generalist expertise across diverse commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands‑on involvement in audit work from the start of the contract
• Apply technical knowledge to real client engagements across multiple industries
• Collaborate with managers, partners, and diverse teams in a supportive environment
• Develop professional skills through mentorship, training, and exposure to client management
• Participate in corporate social initiatives, sports, and social functions
• Access opportunities for secondment and international exposure within the BDO global network
• Contribute to delivering exceptional client service in a fast‑paced audit environment

Qualifications

• Successfully completed all ACCA exams or hold 9 ACCA exemptions by December 2025
• Selected Advanced Auditing as one of the ACCA modules
• Hold an ACCA‑accredited degree from a residential university with auditing as a major subject
• South African citizenship is required
